Mark Sherwood

Mark established Active Finance Australia back in 2016 due to a want for better financial outcomes for his clients.
Mark is a career banker, with roles spanning across Corporate, Business and Commercial banking divisions, both in Australia and abroad with institutions including Macquarie Bank, NAB and Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS). During this time, Mark has developed an extensive understanding of the finance world and with this can review and evaluate each of his clients needs to ensure the finance provided is best for them and their situation.
What Mark couldn’t do when working for the banks, was provide choice! He couldn’t provide numerous options, knowing that the options he was providing were best in market. Knowing that it could be done better, in a way that each financier was providing the client with their best option, had a real appeal. So Active Finance Australia was born!
At the heart of it, Mark just loves to help people. Being a Finance Broker, Mark gets to do this every day! Helping business owners grow and complete acquisitions, purchase their next office space or first warehouse. Help property investors purchase their next asset or hold the hand of first-time property investors/developers, to calm their nerves while they commence their wealth creation journey. Being the trusted partner in your corner and taking control of your finance needs is what he loves to do!
Mark heads up the commercial and business finance team for Active Finance. After working closely with hundreds of business owners, across a multitude of industries, Mark is confident he can find the best solution for any businesses finance needs.
When out of the office, you’ll find Mark spending his time at the beach with his kids or at one of their every growing list of extra-curricular activities! Mark also has a strong love of Rugby Union and his beloved Wanderers.
Wade Crawford

Wade is an experienced finance professional with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Highly skilled at writing home loans and ensuring positive outcomes for his clients. Wade has over 13 years experience in finance, property and business development. Wade holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance and a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking. He loves working at Active Finance because it allows him to utilise his experience and skillset to achieve beneficial financial outcomes for his clients.
Wade prides himself on his ability to assist self-employed clients obtain their maximum borrowing power, by having a comprehensive understanding of lender policies and knowing the most suitable lender for each client. This helps his clients achieve their financial goals by purchasing their dream properties, be it upgrading the family home or adding another investment asset to the portfolio.
He also specialises in offering customised mortgage solutions to clients within the professional services industries and PAYG employees who receive vested shares as a part of their employee benefits package. No matter how complex your position is, Wade’s knowledge and ability to analyse numbers, make the complex simple and set him apart from his peers!
Outside of finance, Wade is passionate about his family, tennis, surfing and playing the guitar. On the weekends you will usually find him on the tennis court, at the beach or at the local park with his two kids and wife.
Damon O'Shea
Commercial and Asset Finance Broker
Damon is passionate about helping small businesses to grow. He understands the access to capital and funding solutions that are timely and work with your cash flow is essential as businesses grow. He has worked in banking and finance and held senior management positions at ANZ Bank, before embarking on his own journey as a business owner in the financial services industry in 2007, launching a startup business in the insurance sales and distribution sector. Damon brings a deep understanding of business finance from both the corporate and small business perspectives. He “speaks their language” so you don’t have to.
Damon is a commercial and asset finance specialist. His experience covers new and used equipment, vehicle finance, earthmoving, agriculture, working capital and commercial property. He has access to big banks and a huge range of specialist lenders.
Damon has Degrees in economics, accounting and holds a Diplomas in financial planning and finance broking.
A keen camp-fire guitarist, Damon loves to travel with his wife Katrina whenever time allows. He enjoys keeping fit balanced with a glass or two of fine Hunter Shiraz.

Abigail’s passion for finance and experience in real estate brings a valuable blend of knowledge and insight to the Active Finance team. Currently completing a Bachelor of Business and Commerce, majoring in Finance and Marketing, she is passionate about applying her knowledge to deliver real value to her clients and support them in achieving their financial goals.
Working alongside Mark, Abigail specialises in commercial, business, and SMSF lending. She takes pride in providing strategic, tailored financial solutions, whether it’s helping clients grow their business, invest in property, or reach their next milestone. Known for her clear communication and approachable manner, Abigail is committed to making the lending process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Outside of work, Abigail is an avid runner who enjoys spending time with her partner Dom, as well as with friends and family. A passionate sports fan, she rarely misses a Rugby League game and proudly supports the Penrith Panthers.
LINDSAY LepataN

Lindsay has been a key part of the Active Finance Newcastle team for nearly two years, working as an Administration Officer. She plays a vital role in assisting Wade with supporting clients through every step of the home loan process. From data entry to valuations, pricing requests, and annual reviews, Lindsay works closely with Wade to ensure applications run smoothly. Her dedication, efficiency, and positive attitude make her an essential part of the team.
Outside the office, Lindsay is a full-time, hands-on mum to her little boy, Caeden. Her time away from the office is mostly spent with him, going on family outings, and cherishing the everyday moments of motherhood with the same heart and care she brings to her work. Whether it’s playtime in the park, messy arts and crafts at home, or quiet bedtime stories, Lindsay embraces the joy and challenges of motherhood with patience, love, and a strong sense of purpose. Her ability to balance a thriving work life with her role as a dedicated mum is a true reflection of her commitment and character.
